'Good luck seeing them without this shirt anyway.'
the shirt isn't helping us ever get close to going
just IMO, my mother has been to egypt, seen the pyramids over 20 years ago, now I talk on a cell phone, find anything on the internet, but I can't go see something for my own eyes that my mother has seen.
we think we know so much, that we are so informed, how much do we actually see?
there is a pyramid on every single one dollar USA american bill, yet at the current state its pretty much impossible for me to actually see one for my own eyes
think about that

Tell that to the people in Egypt. They're the ones who think we're the dirty americans and all share the same political agenda.

I have been to Egypt. I had some jack-ass try to charge me 20$ because I took a picture of a camel. Then he started talking about infidels and George Bush and all that. I recommended a good book to him and bid him good day. The pyramids are cool but stonehenge is cooler. The Great Wall is freaking amazing. Even though China is communist it's still pretty western and way better than any of the Arab countries I have been to. I think the Ali shirt is freaking genius. Funny is funny.

my point is... we need to let them know the truth, that we aren't all the same
this shirt promotes the opposite... its funny, but in a fucked up way
and imo the fucked up way outweighs the funny, especially when it could create a seriously bad situation...
its like throwing fuel on the fire

Hell you can't walk into a 7-11 with that thing on and expect to make it out alive let alone with a slurpee. And when you think about it.......
.......I bet there's an Arab version of T-shirthell.com and I bet there's some funny shit on there too.

They don't want to know or care to know the truth, that is the difference. If you're American, you're the same. Thats how they choose to believe and thats how they will believe.

If you ask a non-french child to draw a french person what do you get? Usually a dude in red and white striped shirt with a beret and some wine/cheese
Ask just about any non-american child to draw an american and you'll get a picture of a cowboy complete with hat, horse, and six-shooter.
Its not that the rest of the world thinks we're "dirty americans" its just what they get taught/see from an early age. (watch some good old fashioned american tv, usually its stupid people acting stupidly. Problem is, thats all most foreigners ever see of the US and assume its how all americans act.)
It just boils down to perception.

Elsydon is right....it does boil down to perception. And in all fairness it goes both ways.
There truly is only a small (very) percentage of Muslims that act out and claim that we are all infidels and all that. However, it is that small percentage that kidnaps and kills innocent people or crashes planes into buildings and whatnot.
Many of the Muslims I encountered in Iraq were glad that there was a U.S. presence in the area. Most of them fell safe when we (Marines) were actively patrolling, detaining, and/or killing known members of terrorist groups. Many of those families can't go out of their houses at night because they are held hostage by jihadists. They have children that can't attend school and families that can't recieve medical attention.
But even with all of that promise there are still those wily terrorists. Those are the ones ruining the fun for the rest of the Muslims. The main problem is that there is no well trained defense force for they country.
There was a band of Kurdish fighters (good guys from Northern Iraq who hate terrorists due to the fact that Saddam tested chemical weapons on them), who mobilized to attack a fortified terrorist camp. 92 of the 112 were killed simply because they lack training and support. But they tried. That is why we are there. If no one in Iraq (or any country) keeps terrorists in check then the problems get worse and more people get hurt.
Look at it like this........
When people go on killing sprees in America what happens to them? Just imagine what it would be like if there was nothing to stop them.
I have been there. I have seen the good and the bad of the country. I've played wih their children and engaged with the enemy. If I can be selective of who I fight and kill, so can they.
Or they can just knock off all this crap and we can be happy. If it keeps me from spending 7 out of 14 months in continuous rotation there, yet keeps our country safe im game.
War is not cool, It is necessary.

I agree, it is all in what children in foreign countries are taught at a young age, many of the middle eastern countries teach that America is bad and all that is western civilization is bad. They promote a very violent version of Islam (im not muslim but i have studied religions enough to know that islam is not a violence based religion, but is twisted towards viloence by Osama bin Laden and people like him) that only leads to hate for all things that are not in strict conduct of what they believe. It is similar to the situation Hitler created for German children during WW2. Hitlers youth promoted books that taught facism and hate for other races/religions at a very young age, and if they are not taught differently and set straight, when they have children of their own, the apple will not fall far from the tree. Proper education of their youth will help them to better understand that our ways are not wrong. But until this time, bombings will continue to happen and tensions and hate will remain between the west and the middle east.
