Thought Id pull in all you pc whizzes and see whats up. First, any suggestions for online sites that I can custom make one?

I made on on staples website, it seems best for the money so far, tell me what u think...

Intel Celeron 3.06 Proc
1 Gig Ram
80g HD
DVD/RW drive
Sound Blaster Audigy sound card
XP Home
Vid card is integrated (yuck) ATi Radeon Xpress
only 3 PCI slots, no AGP

wihotut monitor $549, with a 17 in flat screen, add $280, tho I may just try to find a flat screen monitor cheap somewhere else.

Basically, I want a pc that can game better than my current one, i wanna play WoW smoothly, more smooth than I have been before. Any suggestions?

cant, its onboard....thats the shitty thing about customizing pc's, u cant seem to get one without a vid card integrated. Id love just an AGP slot so I could buy my own card, like a X800 or something

Try for 2GB of RAM instead of 1 or if you can't see about just getting a 1GB stick instead of 2 512 so you aren't throwing away money when you decide you need more RAM. Plus I know you play BF2 and if you want that to run smooth you should definitely get 2GB of RAM. Also I would try to find a MotherBoard that has PCI-E slot instead and get yourself a nice PCI-E card since you can always bridge two PCI-E Vid cards. PCI-E is the future of Vid cards. The next comp I build will have PCI-E and at least 3 slots for RAM, which will be filled with 1GB sticks at the least.

Ya Id rather go for PCI Express too, but like I said this was just an initial build, and I dont see where you can change options for what slots you get. I need some other sites/companies where I can customize one. I have a gig of ram here, that id put in it, hence only getting 1g on the pc.

Im even debating on going down the street here to this pc shop and seeing how much the dude would charge me to build one with my specs.

80gig harddrive?

is that it?

NEED MORE ROOM FOR PORN! 200 GIG MINIMUM!

and if it's going to be a gaming pc, don't rely on the processor to make up for the video card, it'll end up in tears. get a real video card, live and learn, and then get nvidia. :P

www.abspc.com

consider building it yourself? www.newegg.com is great for that. its alot of fun to do

and go for amd processor if your using the pc for gaming - and whatever you do, do not buy an envision monitor!!!

Ok the guy at the local pc shop can build my new pc in 2 days. Here is the specs and price, tell me what u think

3.2 Intel P4
2 x 80 G HD with RAID for speed
1G ram with a slot for 1G more
Geforce 6600 PCI-E

with case and MB and all, lookin at 700-800 ish, sound good deal? anyc hanges ud make that wouldnt be too expensive but worth it?
pilamar
Well you said you have a 1G stick already that you can pop in that open spot so you don't need the RAM. Might wanna try to go with the 7800GT vid card though instead. It will cost you twice what the 6600GT is but it is a way better card for one and also I've heard some bad things about the 6600GT (Go to www.tomshardware.com and read the reviews).
Pinky
make sure your RAM's compatible too if you're gonna add your old stick to the new ones. Not sure if they ever fixed it but there used to be a problem where they wouldn't recognize if they were different speeds or something. Find out what yours is then just have the guy use the same kind for the new gig of RAM I guess.

And if you're gonna get a uber video card like that get a big case for your system. My 6800 GT made my internal temperature go up about 12 degrees. But if you get a big case with a lot of air in there it'll stay cooler.

P4's are solid. Just as a personal preference I go with AMD's but they run hotter than Pentiums.

See if they'll thermal grease the inside of your system for you too. And if you really want to get creative take the fan off of your video card, thermal grease the chip, then put the fan back on.

Well money is a factor here, I just dont have 1200 to spend on one. The AMD was a pref, but he said for the cost over a P4, im not gonna get a significant speed increase to justify the money.

Same with the vid card, I can upgrade at a later time with the Express slot, so Im not too worried about it right now. Ill stick with the 6600 till summer then go higher and go all out on one.

As for Ram, Ill have the extra slot, but I have 2 sticks of 512, so Ill ebay those and buy a stick of 1G later too, according to how well it runs WoW as is
Kobe
On a related note, the reason I havent been in game last few days is, I tried several times last night, only to freeze my whole pc up and have to cold start upon loggin in. Got old so I gave up. My sound card I bought on ebay has fried something I think. I have no sound whatsoever. Internet runs fine, but WoW wont run at all, but ran fine all week, so who knows. I didnt notice a patch so dont think its that.

must....raise....money....quickly......
