So Star Wars ep III is out today! Any of you guys see it yet? If so what do you think? Personally I am going to wait till monday to see it so its not too crowded. When looking it up here is what the critics said:
http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=criti...c&id=1808406061
Looks like it has an avrage of a B+ score with many of them saying its as good as Empire Strikes Back. God I hope they are right.

Pfft, you know how those hardcore star wars fans are... they'll hate anything.
Anyways, I thought it was pretty good. Sucks going in to watch it cuz you know everything that's going to happen tho.

I don't even know what to say about Episode III. The movie was ... AWESOME ... to say the least. The movie was done extremely well and the editing, oh, the editing was top notch. I'll stay away from discussing the movie until more people have seen it.

I read the book, so I know what happens and shit. If the movie sticks to the dialogue, it will rock
Im dying to see Anakin acting out the struggle with himself
I dont see how the hardcore fans can say the first 3 movies were better. I always thot they were mediocre at best

The facination with the original trilogy has to do with the concept and story telling. The dialog and events were no different than what is happening in the prequels. People just don't realize that because they were a lot younger during the original trilogy so something being corny was accepted then. Now that people are older, they feel that they need some serious movie. ANH, ESB, ROTJ were far from that. Every film is a space opera.

I liked it. I'd give it a 7.5/10...maybe 8 in some parts...and the end after he gets off the operating table... <3 Even if it was a bit cliched, it still made me squirm in my seat...in a good way. =D
I swear to god they added digital affects to his cloak when he was on the bridge.
The PROBLEM I have always seen with the prequels...this one included, but not so much as the first two...is that the sound is all off. There's a lot of times where the music SHOULD be louder or swelling, and it doesn't...and there are a lot of times when it is too damn silent. It's like watching a movie with all the special affects but no sound. Like it's unfinished. The first three weren't like this at all...there was ALWAYS good sound...but the prequels...it makes a hell of a difference that you wouldn't realise. It makes some things seem corny when they aren't really.
I think they overdid Sidious a litte, too. Not his voice or his looks, but just...I don't know. He seems silly sometimes. Laughs too much. He didn't laugh quite so much when we see him in the originals, and his laugh is a bit...I dunno...more evil and less silly then. He just overdid the maniacal laughter, is all.
And I liked how he was faking with Windu. Poor Ani never stood a chance against those pleas.
And Padme...I don't think she did such good acting in this one. Some of it was really a bit off. She doesn't LOOK like a dying woman (oh what, you all know it's gonna happen). They could have done her makeup a hell of a lot better for a dying woman in pain, and she could have done way better acting.
Anyway. Hi.
OMG I love Vader. Helmet, cloak swirls, everything was hot. Between Sidious, Vader, and Voldemort, I'm a ball of giggling mass when it comes to evil overlords. And Snape, too. OMG Snape.
What.
Hell, I know Sarah agrees with me (as long as I add Luscious...I mean Lucius, to the list)!

May 20 2005, 02:05 AM
sidious is more giddy and silly in this because he has just taken over and is believe it or not younger, 20 years from now he's got the galaxy under his thumb and has mellowed. padme wasnt supposed to look like a dying woman because there was nothing wrong with her physically.

Alright I'm not a Star Wars freak but I did read the books, mostly because I'll read anything I can get my hands on. And on the subject of Chewy, does anyone remember what Yoda called the wookie standing next to Chewy? I thought he might have said, "General Lum" but I dont know. In the books far after Return of the Jedi Chewbacca dies. Leia goes back to the planet of the Wookies (Kashiik I think it's spelled) and gets Chewbacca's cousin Lumbacca, who they immediately start calling Lumpy. I was wondering if that was him? And Chewy didn't look fat to me at all, sorry Sidd.
On the subject of Padme. She did just give birth to two babies...people who do not have a uterus are not allowed to comment on what a woman would look like after squeezing TWO things the size of watermelons out of something the size of a lemon. ^_^ I agree with Sidd, she would not have looked so damn pretty. There would have been sweat, tears and much more screaming. Take it from me, I have a uterus. =P
Lucius is way more evil than Vader! ^_^ And Voldemort could kick vaders ass anyday! Who needs a lightsaber when you have Avada Kedavra?

Ya, force choke! No wand business at all, no words, just sheer will.
And Jedi Mind Trick = Imperio, but can be done with good conscience, bwahaha
Force Lightning = Crucio with a sizzling bang
It all depends on if Vader can deflect or shrug off magic...hmm.
Many crossovers have attempted to answer that very question. I suppose we will never know.
It's like Trekkie vs. Warsie arguements. Of COURSE Star Wars people would win, they got faster, bigger, more powerful ships and resources Trekkie people could only dream to have. But Trekkies have damn Q and etc, and that's what puts them to the advantage.

Not to mention the whole going to the store at 3 in the morining so you can get the woman pickles and peanut butter to satisfy her craving. Or how about the month or two with no sex we must endure during the last phases of pregency...

Kinda boring story (since nothing unexpected happens in the entire film).

I hate the droid dialog. I swear R2-D2 is the BEST droid in the movies and has the greatest lines of them all. Although I'm not sure how I feel about him being spring-loaded like a poptart into the fighters.
I think it could have been a LOT darker, especially without the cutsie crap thrown in. Not enough wookies, for the 5 minutes of screentime they got. And I cringed at the tarzan yell. At least some children got killed, that was cool.
I hate you Lucas. Hans shot first.
And to you women: You try making 50,000,000 sperm a day!
Kobe
May 23 2005, 12:02 PM
Well I finally saw it last night. I wish I hadn't read the book first. It made my expectations way to high
I really suggest reading hte book tho. Its so much darker, the dialogue is better, as the movie leaves alot out. The book makes Anakins struggle between good and bad so much more epic. And the movie just doesn't show the acting for that struggle until the very end during the Anakin/Obi-wan duel.
The opening sequence was badass, but Obi-wans acting is dull till the end as well. I dunno, I just thinkt he emotions and dialogue could have been portrayed alot better. That in itself would have made this movie soooo much better.
They left out so many plot holes. Like the Council plotting behind Anakins back to make him Palpatines assistant so he could spy, and Obi-wan arguing over and over not to do it and that he didn't wanna betray Anakin. A whole side plot not shown was Obi-wans own epic struggle to not betray and lie to anakin, and his love and brotherlike bond with Anakin, and the eventual struggle to accept that as a jedi you have to throw all bonds aside, when he had to kill Anakin. That just wasnt shown at all, and was a major storyline left out.
SO, yea, I give it a 7/10, if the parts I said had been shown better, It woulda got a 9/10 for sure.
